Addo Elephant Park Area

The word Addo immediately reminds one of the Addo Elephant National Park near Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Addo, however, has much more to offer. The Greater Addo Route circles this unique South African Destination and includes the villages of Addo, Colchester, Canonville, Kirkwood and Paterson.

Quality graded accommodation in the form of luxury lodges, guesthouses, B&B’s, self catering and camping facilities are available throughout the Greater Addo Area.

The visitor can opt for relaxed home stays, luxury spas, comfortable colonial country houses or basic backpacker accommodation complimented by guided tours and safaris, ferry rides, hiking trails, 4 x 4 and off road / adventure facilities with visits to conservation and community projects also offered.

The area covers unspoilt Eastern Cape Bush but is also an agricultural centre where citrus is intensively farmed.

The climate and soil are also ideally suited to farming with roses and the annual Addo Rose & Garden Show held in Addo during October is well worth visiting.

Game farms abound in the area and Addo's neighbouring town, Kirkwood, hosts the well known annual "Wildsfees". (Game Festival) in June.
